St. Patrick’s Day Trivia Answers

Category: Fairfield Inn & Suites LancasterSteven @ 8:38 am

Below are a couple of trivia questions about the history of St. Patrick’s to test your knowledge.

The answers are going to be posted up tomorrow.

-Where was the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade held? Many believe that the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade was held in Ireland when in fact it was held in Boston in 1737, with the first “official” parade taking place in New York in 1762.

-What is the old tradition of wearing green on this special day? The tradition of wearing green began by the superstition that a leprechaun might come up to you and pinch you if you weren’t wearing it.

-What does the shamrock symbolize? Old stories and traditions say the St. Patrick used the native shamrock to try to explain Christianity to the Irish. Each leaf represented one of the Holy Trinity, one for the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Nowadays, the shamrock allegedly represents faith, hope, and love.

-How many three leaf clovers exist for one lucky four leafed clover? For every 10,000 three leaf clovers there is ONE four leaf clover. They are indeed very lucky.

-When did the Chicago tradition of dying the Chicago River green begin ? Every year since 1962, the Chicago River has been dyed green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Only a select few organizers know the true “secret” to such a beautiful display.

There you are folks all of the answers to the St. Patrick’s Day trivia !
