The Outdoors of Lancaster County

Lancaster County is home to breathtaking scenery that range from back roads, woodlands and rolling hills. It makes a beautiful destination spot for people who love the outdoors as well as history because everywhere you turn in Lancaster County there is plenty of it !

The Lancaster County Bike Club knows all of the scenic back roads to ride to take in all the beauty throughout Lancaster County. There are bike routes in Ephrata, PA Dutch Country, Lititz, PA and along the river town of Columbia. You will be able to get a variety of different landscapes in Lancaster county from the rolling hills to the flat lands that surround us you will get it all.

Lancaster County is home to some of the oldest Covered Bridges in the United States. They are sprawled throughout Lancaster is some of the most beautiful settings. To visit all of the covered bridges the best way would be to go by car but the best way to get the most out of the scenes would be to go biking.

If you are interested in the different bird wildlife that there is in Lancaster you could always visit the Birding Section of PA Dutch Country website. The Birding society of Pennsylvania know all of the hotspots to go to to capture these fantastic animal in their natural habitat. Between the rivers and creeks and woodland here there is ample amount of places to go and see these majestic beautiful creatures.

There are also plenty of Water Activities to do do in and around Lancaster, especially surrounding the Susquehanna River. The Susquehanna River is an excellent spot for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and boating. You’ll want to explore the river’s quiet beauty, learn about her resources and the history and culture of our river towns from a series of riverside interpretive panels. Scattered along a 53-mile span from the Mason-Dixon Line to Harrisburg, the Susquehanna Water Trail has placed these panels to allow visitors to better understand the natural, cultural or historic events and resources of the river.
